Meaning
Light — the everyday word covering both illumination and electricity. 'Di lite gaan' means the power/electricity is out (a common event); 'put on di lite' means switch on the light. It also carries the wider senses of daylight ('fus lite' = dawn) and, in Rasta speech, spiritual light.
