A large, long silvery sea fish (the king mackerel) with firm, tasty flesh — a favourite for thick fish steaks, fried or run-down in coconut milk, and for a hearty fish soup. Sold in cut steaks at the fish market, king-fish is regarded as one of the 'good' fish.
