Meaning
The bright green anole lizard that lives outdoors in the trees, bushes, and on the walls, puffing out a colourful throat-fan to display or to warn. Harmless and quick, darting and freezing in the sun, it is a familiar and cheerful sight in every Jamaican yard, quite distinct from the pale, soft indoor 'croaking lizard' (the house gecko) that many so dread. The green lizard belongs to the ordinary daytime life of the garden and the bush, one of the small, bright creatures always about in the warmth, harmless and busy among the leaves.
