Meaning
A light, peppery fish broth boiled with green banana, yam, dumpling, and seasonings — a thin soup (not a creamy chowder) prized as nourishing and, by reputation, a 'man-strengthening' tonic. In Jamaica any hot brew, savoury or sweet, can be called 'tea'.

Origin
