Meaning
A dunce — a stupid, slow, or ignorant person, especially one who does badly at school or 'caan learn'. 'Dunce head' is a common insult and taunt, and 'dunce' as an adjective describes the failing pupil or the fool. It carries the sting of the classroom, where being called dunce is a shame, and it runs through everyday talk, schoolyard teasing, and even dancehall debates about valuing education over being a 'dunce'.
