Meaning
A dub mix, or the dub style of playing — a version of a track stripped down to its drum-and-bass core and drenched in echo, reverb, and drop-outs by the engineer at the mixing board. To go 'dubwise' at a dance is to play these heavy, spacious dub cuts. Pioneered by King Tubby and Lee 'Scratch' Perry, dubwise is the foundation of remix and electronic music.
