The morning worship that opens the school day in Jamaica — the whole school gathering for hymns, a Bible reading, prayer, and notices before classes begin. A fixture of the island's Christian-rooted school culture, 'devotion' (or morning assembly) also includes the national anthem and pledge on the parade ground or in the hall.
