A blade — and by extension violence, danger, or a fight — cannot see who it strikes, so it may harm anyone, including the innocent or the wielder. The cutlass (machete) has no eye to choose its target. A proverb warning people to stay clear of fights and dangerous situations, because harm doesn't discriminate once it's unleashed.
