Meaning
A fellow female church member — and, as an archetype, the devout, respectable churchgoing woman in her hat and 'Sunday best', pillar of the congregation and often of neighbourhood morality too. 'Sista So-and-so' is how church women address one another. The 'church sista' figure is treated with respect, and sometimes gently teased for piety or for minding others' business.
