Meaning
A sweet fried cake made from mashed overripe banana beaten into a spiced flour batter with sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla, then dropped and fried until golden. Banana fritters are a favourite way to use up bananas that have gone too ripe to eat, turned into a soft, sweet breakfast or snack, sometimes dusted with sugar. Warm off the pan, they are a homely, thrifty treat found on many a Jamaican breakfast table.
