Sneeze

verb SNEEZ sniːz

Also spelled sneeze, sneez, nyeze

To sneeze — to expel air suddenly and loudly through the nose and mouth, as with a cold, dust, or pepper. Beyond the plain act, a sneeze carries folk meaning in Jamaica: to sneeze can be a sign that someone is talking about you, and a baby's first sneeze, or a sneeze at a certain moment, may be read as an omen. 'Bless you' or 'God bless yuh' is the customary word to a person who sneezes.

  • Di dus mek mi sneeze.

    The dust made me sneeze.

  • When yuh sneeze, somebody a talk bout yuh.

When you sneeze, someone is talking about you.

  • Him sneeze hard from di pepper.

He sneezed hard from the pepper.
