Meaning
An Indo-Jamaican — a person of East Indian descent, from the indentured labourers brought from India after emancipation to work the plantations. The Indian community shaped Jamaican food (curry, roti), religion, and culture; 'East Indian' also names a prized mango variety. ('Coolie' is the older, now-loaded word for the same group.)
