Meaning
A mid-sized passenger minibus — originally the Toyota Coaster — used for public transport between towns and along the main roads. Often crowded to bursting, loud with music, and driven at hair-raising speed by a driver and his 'ductor' (conductor) hustling for fares, the coaster is a familiar and colourful sight and sound on Jamaica's roads. For many it is the everyday way to travel country and town, packed in tight, and it belongs to the whole lively, chaotic world of Jamaican road transport.
