Meaning
Credit — buying goods now and paying later, on trust. To 'buy pon trus' at the shop is to take groceries and have them written in a book ('the book') to settle on payday. 'Gimme a trus till Friday' asks the shopkeeper for credit. This informal credit between shopkeeper and regular customer is a longstanding part of Jamaican community economy, resting on trust and reputation.
