Meaning
A jelly coconut — a young green coconut with soft, jelly-like flesh and sweet water inside. Sold at the roadside and chopped open with a machete, the jelly is drunk first for its cool, sweet water, and then split so the tender, spoonable jelly can be scooped out and eaten. A refreshing, wholesome treat, especially in the heat, it is a favourite roadside stop, and 'buy a jelly' is a familiar part of a hot day's travel, quenching thirst and hunger straight from the young nut.

Origin
