Meaning
The bitter kola nut — a hard reddish seed that is grated or chewed as a folk remedy and mild stimulant. In Jamaican bush medicine bizzy is taken (often grated into water or tea) for stomach upset, as a hangover and 'poison' remedy, to steady the system, and for its caffeine-like lift. A West African tradition kept alive in Jamaica.
